Pool Cleaning

No matter how green or dirty your pool is, we can assist with once-off pool cleaning, restoring your pool to a sanitary and swimmer-friendly condition within the recommended chemistry parameters. Our expertise lies in implementing high industry standards to protect all parts of the pool, promote longevity, prevent damage to the surface finish interior, and equipment, and ensure the best swimmer comfort, equipment protection, and sanitizer efficiency.

Water chemistry parameters may necessitate varying approaches and chemicals for effective pool sanitation and cleaning. Depending on the condition of the pool, treatment may involve shock, floc, and vacuum procedures, potentially including the replacement of filter silica sand.

In cases where the cost of chemicals and labor required to restore the pool becomes prohibitively expensive, a drain and acid wash may be recommended. It is important to note that not all pools are suitable for acid washing. Marbelite surface finishes that are significantly aged, pitted, rough, and worn may deteriorate rapidly when acid washed and exposed to UV light. Draining the pool and subjecting it to sunlight can also cause UV damage, and the acid washing process itself may further degrade the surface finish, resulting in increased staining and algae formation upon refilling. Some pools are so tremendously rough, terribly stained and deteriorated due to neglect and incorrect water chemistry that Resurfacing the pool with marbelite is the only alternative.

If the total alkalinity is low, it needs to be raised using alkalinity increaser or sodium bicarbonate. Please understand that when alkalinity levels are extremely low, the acidic water may appear clear and clean, but will be aggressive and dissolve pollutants, metals, and minerals, which may result in metal staining or corrosion and damage to pool equipment and components. Raising alkalinity rapidly without adding BioGuard® Pool Magnet or a pool metal sequestering agent 24 hours prior may result in staining of the pool surface when pollutants, metals, and minerals precipitate at different alkalinity and pH levels.

A pool with low or no alkalinity can experience various negative effects, including corrosion of metal components such as pumps, filters, and heaters. The acidic nature of the water in a pool with inadequate alkalinity levels can also cause damage to pool surfaces, leading to etching, staining, or deterioration of the pool structure. Additionally, low alkalinity can result in unstable pH levels, making it challenging to maintain proper water balance and potentially causing discomfort to swimmers due to skin and eye irritation. Overall, maintaining adequate alkalinity levels is crucial for the overall health and longevity of the pool system.

Water conditions and chemistry parameters may require different approaches and chemicals to properly sanitize and clean a pool. In some cases, a pool may be revitalized with a proper and aggressive shock, floc, and vacuum treatment. Drainage and acid washing may be recommended if the cost of chemicals and labor required to bring the pool back becomes too expensive. Not all pools are suitable for an acid wash. Marbelite surface finishes that are extremely old, rough, and worn may deteriorate rapidly due to the acid wash and UV exposure. Some marbelite surface finishes are so worn that draining the pool and exposing it to the sun could cause UV damage, and the acid washing itself may further deteriorate the surface finish, roughening it and resulting in worse staining and algae than before once it is refilled.

Our work may include testing pool water PH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and metals. Adjust PH when the pool exceeds 7.6 down to ideal of 7.2 - 7.6. This can be done by adding BioGuard Lo n Slo. Test Alkalinity 80 - 120 ppm. Calcium Hardness levels should be between 200 ppm – 275 ppm and should be actively managed. Add BioGuard sanitizers, and BioGuard sun shield chlorine stabilizer to prevent free chlorine residual loss from the sun. BioGuard Balance Pak 300 should only be added if Calcium hardness is low.
